Alfred Schreuder Appointed as Ajax Head Coach

Two-Year Deal for Former Club Brugge Boss

Amsterdam, Netherlands - Ajax Football Club has announced the appointment of Alfred Schreuder as its new head coach, effective immediately.

Schreuder has signed a two-year contract with the Dutch giants, making the move from Belgian club Club Brugge, where he has been in charge since 2020. The 49-year-old Dutchman will replace interim coach Erik ten Hag, who has left to join Manchester United.

"I am delighted to be joining Ajax," said Schreuder. "This is a great club with a rich history and a tradition of playing attacking football. I am looking forward to working with the players and staff to achieve success."

Schreuder is a former midfielder who played for Ajax from 1991 to 1994. He has also managed Vitesse Arnhem, Hoffenheim, and the Austrian national team. He will be tasked with leading Ajax to success in the Eredivisie and the Champions League.

Ajax are nicknamed "de Godenzonen" (Sons of the Gods) and "de Joden" (the Jews). They are also known as "Lucky Ajax" due to their remarkable success in European competition.
