U.S. Geological Survey Makes Landsat Data Freely Available

EarthExplorer EE User Interface

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has announced that Landsat Level-1 data, as well as Level-2 and Level-3 science products, are now available for free download from the USGS archive. This data can be accessed through the EarthExplorer EE user interface, an online search, discovery, and ordering tool developed by the USGS.

Remote Sensing Data

The data available through EarthExplorer includes remote sensing satellite imagery, Landsat digital elevation models (DEMs), digital maps, radar data, and unmanned aerial system (UAS) data. This data can be used for a variety of purposes, including land use planning, natural resource management, and disaster response.

The USGS has been collecting Landsat data since 1972, and the archive now contains over 2 million scenes. This data is a valuable resource for scientists, researchers, and anyone else interested in studying the Earth's land surface.
